Information for New Patients

photo of officeA minimum of ten treatments is optimal in order to receive the benefits of a medicine that addresses the root of your condition. Remember, Traditional Chinese Medicine is holistic and not a quick fix to relieve symptoms. Rather, it is based on an eloquent philosophy that corrects the abnormalities in your body and its systems that are causing acute and chronic symptoms. Chinese Medicine treats disease by altering the body's internal energies. This takes time, it is a natural process.

Treatment results are analogous to the Gestalt theory that emphasizes that the whole is the sum of its parts. When you treat one condition, your entire body will realize beneficial results through a smooth flow of qi and increased circulation.

An herbal formula that is designed to treat your specific condition will be prescribed as an essential, vital part of your treatment process. Certain herbs contain natural energetic substances whose essence gently corrects underlying deficiencies. Many of these botanical substances have been isolated and scientifically analyzed, however, it is the synergy of their actions when methodically combined in a formula that produces their potent effects. Herbs are a most important adjunct to your treatment.

INSURANCE: Sheryl Malin is a provider for ASHN, Harrington, Fiserve, and Kaiser Permanente Complimentary Healthcare Insurance. If you are not sure if you are covered by insurance, please call your provider and ask if you qualify for acupuncture treatments.

Symmetry also accepts Workman’s Comp and No-Fault insurances.

NO-FAULT: If you have been in an accident, most insurances cover acupuncture for 30 treatments. These treatment totals are combined with chiropractic, physical therapy, and massage. Please ask you adjuster about your coverage. You do not need a physician’s referral for treatment. Acupuncture is very effective at treating acute injuries. My patients say that they realize more relief from the acupuncture treatments than other modalitiies.
WORKMAN’S COMP: A physician’s referral is necessary for treatment and coverage. Most physicians are accepting of acupuncture as they have seen the positive results it produces. If you want acupuncture treatments, ask your physician for a prescription referral. You will need a minimum of 10 visits to achieve results.
